During a moving celebration of its 100th anniversary on March 27, 2025, the Braille Circulating Library in Richmond, Virginia announced it will officially close its doors this July. But in a powerful act of legacy and love, the library is donating its entire collection, including braille books, large print titles, and cassette tape materials, to I Read I See Lending Library for the Blind.

This incredible gift will allow I Read I See to expand its offerings and continue serving blind and visually impaired readers across the nation. Operations are already in the process of winding down, and the building will be sold this summer. All lending library functions will be absorbed by I Read I See, while the Daily Bread devotional distribution will be transitioned to another ministry.

"This is more than just a donation, it's the passing a torch, "says Julia Niemes of I Read I See. "We are honored to preserve their legacy and make these resources accessible to a new generation of readers."

To support this transition, I Read I See is currently seeking volunteers to assist with packing books, digitizing cassette tapes, and organizing inventory.

Stay connected as we share updates on this historic move, and help us honor 100 years of faith, literacy, and service.
